Interpersonal dependency in relation to perfectionism and selfcriticism

Abstract:

Práce reaguje na zvýšený zájem o interpersonální závislost ověřením faktorové validity překladu škály k jejímu měření, Relationship profile test (RPT). Zároveň práce obsahuje faktorovou validitu škály Multidimensional perfectionism scale (MPS) pro měření perfekcionismu a faktorovou validitu škály Depressive experiences questionnaire (DEQ) k měření depresivních zážitků. Všechny validizační studie prováděné na vzorku 215 vysokoškoláků vyšly podobně jako validizace původních škál. V rámci ověřování faktorových validit nebyl nalezen rozdíl mezi pohlavím u dimenzí RPT dysfunkční detachment a zdravá závislost, ani u sebekriticismu měřeného DEQ. Stejně tak nebyl nalezen rozdíl ani u všech dimenzí perfekcionismu, tedy perfekcionismu zaměřeného na sebe, zaměřeného na ostatní a sociálně preskribovaného. Jediný, i když nepatrný rozdíl v závislosti na pohlaví, byl zjištěn u destruktivní závislosti, kdy ženy dosahovaly vyšších skórů. Vztahy mezi konstrukty, jež vzešly z našich dat, do značné míry odpovídají předpokladům. Destruktivní závislost i dysfunkční detachment studentů predikují jejich sebekriticismus, zatímco jejich zdravá závislost vůči sebekriticismu působí jako protektivní faktor. Dysfunkční detachment dále predikuje perfekcionismus sociálně preskribovaný, jehož prostřednictvím nepřímo působí na perfekcionismus zaměřený na sebe a přes něj opět nepřímo na perfekcionismus zaměřený na ostatní. Mezi perfekcionismem a sebekriticismem nebyl nalezen signifikantní vztah. Vztah zdravé závislosti k perfekcionismu vyšel jako zanedbatelný a u destruktivní závislosti nebyl nalezen žádný průkazný vztah s perfekcionismem. Práce poskytuje vysvětlení těchto vztahů na základě teorie.

Abstract:

This work reacts on increasing interest about the interpersonal dependency by examination of factor validity of the translated scale for its measurement, Relationship profile test (RPT). The work contains factor validity of the Multidimensional perfectionism scale (MPS) for measuring perfectionism and factor validity of the Depressive experience questionnaire (DEQ) for measuring depressive experiences as well. All the validisation studies, executed at the sample of 215 university students, had similar result as validisations of original scales. During the examination of factor validities were not found differences between genders in dimensions of RPT dysfunctional detachment and healthy dependency, even in the case of selfcriticism measured by DEQ was not found any difference. It was the same with all the three dimensions of perfectionism, which means self-oriented perfectionism, other-oriented perfectionism and socially prescribed perfectionism. Only, but negligible difference between genders was found at destructive overdependancy, where women scored higher. Relationships among constructs appeared in our data correspond to the large extent with the prediction. Destructive dependency and dysfunctional detachment of students predicts their selfcriticism, whereas healthy dependency affects selfcriticism as protective factor. Beside it dysfunctional detachment predicts socially prescribed perfectionism and via it indirectly affects self-oriented perfectionism and via it again indirectly affects other-oriented perfectionism. Between perfectionism and selfcriticism was not found significant relationship. Relationship between healthy dependency and perfectionism is negligible and destructive overdependency is not in significant relationship with perfectionism. The work provides the explanation of these relationships based on theory.
