The University of the Third Age as the last college education for seniors

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá univerzitou třetího věku. Cílem práce je seznámit čtenáře s tím, co univerzita třetího věku je a pro koho je určená. Dalším cílem je zjistit, jaké jsou motivace seniorů ke studiu a zároveň odhalit, jak jsou spokojeni se studiem na univerzitě třetího věku a jak se cítí ve vysokoškolském prostředí. V práci jsou vymezená teoretická východiska celoživotního vzdělávání, univerzity třetího věku, stárnutí, motivace a spokojenosti. V rámci této práce byl realizován výzkum na univerzitách třetího věku, přesněji na Univerzitě třetího věku v Praze na ČVUT, na Univerzitě třetího věku v Liberci na TUL a na Univerzitě třetího věku v Ústí nad Labem na UJEP. Pro realizaci analýzy byl použit kvantitativní výzkum, který probíhal prostřednictvím dotazníkového šetření, ze kterého vyplynulo, že senioři se hlásí na univerzity třetího věku především z důvodu získání, rozšíření a prohloubení informací. Z výsledku výzkumu dále vyplynulo, že respondenti jsou velmi spokojeni na univerzitách třetího věku.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the University of the Third Age. The aim of this thesis is to inform readers about what the University of the Third Age is and for whom it is intended. Another goal is to find out what keeps the senior citizens motivated for studying and also to find out how are they satisfied with the study at the University of the Third Age and how do they feel in the university environment. This thesis describes theoretic concepts of lifelong learning, the University of the Third Age, aging, motivation, and satisfaction. The research was carried out on the Universities of the Third Age, more specifically at the University of the Third Age at ČVUT in Prague, at the University of the Third Age at TUL in Liberec and at the University of the Third Age at UJEP in Ústí nad Labem. Quantitative research was used for the analysis. This research was carried out through questionnaires. These questionnaires showed that senior citizens apply for the Universities of the Third Age mainly because they want to acquire, extend and deepen their knowledge. Moreover, the results showed that responders are very satisfied with the Universities of the Third Age.
