The Depiction of Characters in Two Gothic Novels
Abstract:
Predmetom môjho záujmu v tejto práci su hlavné postavy dvoch gotických románov – The Castle of Otranto, ktorého autorom je Horace Walpole a The Monk od Matthewa G. Lewisa. Porovnávam schémy postáv použité v týchto románoch, poukazujem na nesúlady vo vykreslení charakterov a skúmam zodpovednosť postáv za svoje konanie.
Abstract:
The thesis deals with the main characters of two gothic novels – The Castle of Otranto by Horace Walpole and The Monk by Matthew Gregory Lewis. It compares the scheme of characters used in both novels, analyses the consistency of depiction of characters and examines the responsibility of characters for their acting.
