Abstract:

In the diploma thesis I concentrate on teaching English for specific purposes at university, namely legal English. I discuss variety as an aspect of motivation and its importance. The results are presented on the basis of data obtained by the research carried out in the lessons of English for Lawyers and they are accompanied by graphical representation.The diploma thesis consists of two parts: the theoretical part and the practical part. The aim of the theoretical part was to present the definition of ESP and the nature of the courses dealing with English for specific purposes, the role of motivation and variety and what an ESP lesson may include taking into consideration the program, techniques, interaction and materials. The aim of the practical part was to find out what happens in real lesson and analyze the collected data.
