Climate change and population grouth through the eyes of young people

Abstract:

V posledních letech se na základě médiích a několika průzkumů veřejného mínění objevuje myšlenka, že mladí dospělí stále více zohledňují klimatickou změnu ve svém reprodukčním chování. Ovšem empirické důkazy o tomto jevu chybí. Tato diplomová práce pojednává o dvou hlavních rovinách. První je klimatická změna a její vnímání občany ČR a Filipín a druhá se soustřeďuje na otázky plánování dětí. Autor se snaží tyto roviny propojit a na základě dat z kvantitativního výzkumu prostřednictvím dotazníkového šetření vyhodnotit stanovené hypotézy. Na tyto hypotézy byly použity statistické metody, které zjistili, že občané obou zemí nepřiklání takovou váhu klimatické změně v otázce reprodukčního chování.

Abstract:

In recent years, the media and several opinion polls have suggested that young adults are increasingly considering climate change in their reproductive behavior. However, empirical evidence of this phenomenon is lacking. This thesis deals with two main levels. The first is climate change and its perception by the citizens of the Czech Republic and the Philippines, and the second focuses on issues of child planning. The author tries to connect these levels and evaluate the established hypotheses based on data from quantitative research through a questionnaire survey. Statistical methods were applied to these hypotheses, which found that citizens of both countries do not attach such weight to climate change in the matter of reproductive behavior.
