Abstract:

Všeobecným trendem v oblasti zpracování dat je outsourcing dat do systémů třetích stran, které poskytují práci s těmito daty jako službu. Tento přístup s sebou přirozeně nese problémy s bezpečností potenciálně citlivých dat. Výzkum v oblasti outsourcingu dat pro klasické vyhledávání shodou nebo pomocí klíčových slov se zajištěním bezpečnosti dat je již poměrně rozsáhlý. Nicméně oblast outsourcingu podobnostního vyhledávání je tématem novým. Podobnostní vyhledávání nabývá na významu s rostoucím množstvím zejména multimediálních dat. Cílem těchto tezí je analyzovat problém outsourcingu podobnostního vyhledávání (se zaměřením na bezpečnost citlivých dat) a vytvořit formální modely takovýchto systémů. Tyto modely by měly pokrývat všechny aspekty outsourcingu (problém extrakce deskriptorů, problém bezpečného indexování a vyhledávání). Společně s analýzou a tvorbou modelů je cílem vytvořit obecný framework, který by umožňoval rychlé implementace prototypů nově navržených systémů outsourcovaného podobnostního vyhledávání za účelem experimentálního vyhodnocení efektivity dané techniky. Tyto podcíle by měly připravit vhodné prostředí pro návrh, implementaci a evaluaci nových indexačních technich vhodných pro systémy outsourcingu podobnostního vyhledávání.

Abstract:

The general trend in data management is to outsource data to 3rd party systems that would provide data retrieval as a service. This approach naturally brings privacy concerns about the (potentially sensitive) data. Recently, quite extensive research has been done on privacy-preserving outsourcing of traditional exact-match or keyword search. However, not much attention has been paid to outsourcing of similarity search, which is essential in current content-based retrieval in multimedia and scientific data. One of the goals of our research is to analyze the process of outsourcing similarity search and create formal models describing the outsourcing similarity search systems. Such models should cover all the issues of the outsourcing (problem of feature extraction, problem of privacy-preserving indexing and searching, all in the client-server architecture). Since it is crucial to evaluate efficiency of the solutions on real data, our objective is also to create a general framework enabling easy prototype implementation of outsourcing similarity search systems focusing on the privacy-preserving indexing and searching. The theoretical model along with the implementation framework should prepare a solid and unified formal background for designing new and innovative techniques for outsourcing similarity search which is our second goal. Both the above mentioned goals should support our global objective which is to provide a complex, scalable outsourcing similarity search solutions with provable security where the balance between efficiency and level of privacy can be adjusted according to requirements of the specific domain and application.
