Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá úrovní angličtiny u vzorku vybraných českých sportovců. V teoretické části se autor zaměřuje na motivaci, její původ a typy a dále také na důležitost motivace a disciplíny při provozování profesionálního sportu. V praktické části autor práce deseti vybraným sportovcům distribuoval dotazník, který zkoumal jejich vztah k angličtině a ke sportu. Na základě odpovědí uvedených v tomto dotazníku byli sportovci rozděleni na dvě skupiny. První skupina obsahovala sportovce, kteří mají velký potenciál soutěžit v zahraničí a budou tak pravděpodobně často vystaveni nutnosti použít angličtinu. Druhá skupina zahrnovala sportovce, jejichž potenciál v tomto směru není tak výrazný a pravděpodobnost mezinárodní úspěšnosti a vystavení angličtině není příliš vysoká. Autor práce následně nahrál se všemi těmito sportovci simulovaný rozhovor s médii. Tyto rozhovory poté vyhodnotil v oblasti gramatiky, slovní zásoby, výslovnosti a dalších aspektů anglického jazyka.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the level of English of a sample of selected Czech sportspeople. In the theoretical part the author focuses on motivation, its origin and types as well as the importance of motivation and discipline in professional sport. In the practical part ten selected sportspeople had been given a background questionnaire which had examined their relationship to English and to sports. Based on their answers, the ten sportspeople were divided into two groups. The first group included sportspeople with high potential to compete abroad and who are therefore expected to be forced to use English quite often. The second group consisted of sportspeople whose potential in this area is not so significant and international success and exposure to English is not very likely. The author has subsequently recorded model interviews with the media with all these sportspeople. He has then evaluated those recordings in the field of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and other aspects of the English language.
