The British Empiricism of the 17th and 18th Century

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na rozbor třech základních koncepcí představitelů britského empirismu 17. a 18. století, kteří kriticky reagují na novověký racionalismus. John Locke, George Berkeley a David Hume se pokoušejí vytvořit novou teorii poznání, která vychází ze zkušenosti. Protože každý z myslitelů přistupuje k noetice jiným způsobem, je záměrem práce porovnat učení těchto filosofů a blíže rozebrat jejich základní pojmy, jako je např. idea, zkušenost a poznání.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on analysis of three main conceptions of representatives of the British Empiricism in the 17th and 18th century, who critically reply to Modern Rationalism. John Locke, George Berkeley and David Hume try to create a new theory of knowledge, which is based on experience. Because of different approaches of these philosophers to the theory of knowledge is the intention of this study to compare teaching of the authors and to analyse basic concepts of their philosophy, such as idea, experience and knowledge.
