Ethics in work of psychologist in schools: conflict of laws and ethical principles

Abstract:

Práce mapovala historii a témata etiky, historii a vymezení školní psychologie a etické problémy, se kterými se školní psycholog setkává. Konkrétně nás zajímaly situace, kdy se psycholog dostává do rozporu mezi etickými principy a legislativními předpisy, tyto situace nejsou nijak ojedinělé. Zjistili jsme, že největší rozporuplnost vyvolává informovaný souhlas se službami školního psychologa a důvěrnost informací. Zajímal nás názor samotných klientů školní psychologie – dětí a rodičů. Kromě toho jsme zmapovali četnost problematických situací, které děti řeší a důvody, proč děti nevyužily služeb školního psychologa. Výzkum jsme založili na názorech rodičů a dětí na problematiku. K zjištění později vyhodnocených údajů jsme vytvořili dva anonymní dotazníky, jeden pro děti, druhý pro rodiče, které jsme rozeslali do škol, sdíleli na sociálních sítích a také jsme požádali o vyplnění osoby, se kterými přicházíme do běžného i profesního styku. Při výzkumu jsme zjistili, že děti by se rády zbavily rodičovské kontroly nad jejich potížemi, naopak rodiče vyžadují informovanost o problémech dítěte, ne nutně kompletní, ale alespoň částečnou. Rodiče si tedy uvědomují důležitost uchování soukromí dítěte a důvěrnosti některých informací. Závažné problémy by však měly jejich děti stále řešit v rodinném prostředí. Práce tak dává školním psychologům náhled do problematiky rozlišení informací, které mohou z hlediska rodičů ponechat důvěrné a které by dle rodičů měl školní psycholog s rodiči dítěte sdílet. Jak jsme zjistili, rodiče si uvědomují důležitost důvěrného a bezpečného prostředí, kde je dítě přijímáno a je mu pomoženo s případnými potížemi.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis conducted a survey of history and subjects of ethics, of history and specification of school psychology and of ethical problems, which school psychologist encounters. Specifically, we were interested in situations, in which psychologist gets involved in the conflict between ethical principles and legislative rules – those situations are nowhere near exceptional. We found out that informed permission of psychologist services and confidence of information cause the biggest contradiction. We were interested in the opinions of clients of school psychology – children and parents. Apart from that we have surveyed frequency of problematic situations, with which children deal and reasons why they did not use services of school psychologist. The survey is based on parental and children view on the problem. To ascertain data, which were evaluated afterwards, we had created two anonymous questionnaires, one for children, the other for parents, which we sent to schools, shared on social networks, and we also asked people we are in ordinary and professional touch with to fill out the questionnaire. According to the survey's results, children would prefer to get rid of parental control over their problems, their parents, on the contrary, demand to be at least partially informed about their children's trouble. As it appears, parents are aware of the fact, that it is important for children to be able to maintain their own privacy and keep some of their confidential information to themselves. Nevertheless, when it comes to serious problems, parents want their children to solve it in family environment. This thesis provides school psychologists with an insight to the problem of distinguishing, which information can they keep away from parents as confidential, and which, according to parents, they should share with them. As we have found out, parents are aware of the importance of confidential and safe environment their children are received into and where they can get help in order to solve their problems.
