Development of the Female Nude in Ancient Greek Sculpture

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na základní vývojové tendence ženského aktu v řeckém sochařství. Sleduje postupný rozvoj ztvárnění ženského těla od kořenů řeckého umění na egejských ostrovech přes archaické, klasické a helenistické umění až po římskou snahu navázat osobitým způsobem na řecké umělecké tradice. Dalším cílem je objasnit, co za akt v umění můžeme považovat, jaká je jeho funkce a jak individuální může být jeho vnímání.

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis is focused on the basic development tendencies of the female nude in the Greek sculpture. It follows the gradual development of representation of the female body from the roots of Greek art on the Aegean islands through the Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic art to the Roman effort to take up distinctively the Greek artistic tradition. Another aim is to clarify what can be considered as nude in the art, what is its function and how individual may be his perception.
