Improving the quality of seeds of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.)

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo zjistit, zda metody studená stratifikace, máčení osiva a inkubace v rámci metody IDS mohou přinést zlepšení vitality osiva borovice lesní. Metody byly testovány na dvou oddílech osiva v rámci dvou testů. U osiva borovice lesní byla zjišťována energie klíčení, klíčivost a také počet semen svěžích, mrtvých, prázdných. Všechny testované metody přinesly zvýšení energie klíčení. Metoda IDS měla na osivo také kladný účinek a i po 2,5 měsíčním skladování testovaného osiva nedošlo k výraznému poklesu energie klíčení a klíčivosti. Jako nejúčinnější metodou zlepšení vitality osiva borovice lesní se ukázala metoda studené stratifikace, kde se energie klíčení zvýšila více než o polovinu.

Abstract:

The aim of this work was to find out whether the methods of cold stratification, soaking in water, incubation in IDS methods can bring improvement of vitality of Scots pine seeds. The methods were tested on two sets of seeds compartments in two tests. For Scots pine seeds was determined germination energy, germination capacity and the number of fresh, dead and empty seeds. All tested methods have increased the germination energy. The IDS method also had a positive effect on the seeds, even after 2.5 months of storage of the tested seeds there was no significant decrease in germination energy and germination capacity. Cold stratification, where the germination energy increased by more than half, proved to be the most effective method for improving the vitality of Scots pine seeds.
