Educating needs of seniors living in seniors' homes

Abstract:

Anotace: Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá potřebami seniorů žijících v domovech pro seniory. Zkoumá využití volného času v souvislosti s jejich koníčky, možnost dalšího rozvoje a motivace seniorů k učení se novým věcem. Obsahuje dvě části, teoretickou a empirickou. V teoretické části práce jsou charakterizovány změny, které doprovází stáří a stárnutí. Uvádí pozitivní a negativní hlediska stáří, potřebu motivace ke vzdělávání v seniorském věku a nutnost přípravy na stáří již v době dospělosti. Zabývá se myšlenou budování druhého životního programu. Popisuje budoucí vývoj populace a pobyt v institucionální péči. Empirická část se věnuje seniorům žijících v domovech pro seniory v rámci Jihomoravského kraje. Zjišťuje zájmy seniorů, jejich tělesnou a duševní aktivitu a vyplnění volného času v pobytovém zařízení. Zkoumá potřebu dalšího rozvoje a vzdělávání se v seniorském věku.

Abstract:

Abstract: This bachelor thesis deals with the seniors’ needs who live in old people homes. It looks into leisure activities in connection with their hobbies, the possibility of further development and motivation for learning new things. The thesis contains two parts: a theoretical and an empirical part. In the theoretical part there are characterized changes which go with old age and aging. It indicates positive and negative aspects of old age, the need to motivate seniors to learn and the necessity to prepare adult people for retirement. It deals with the idea of building a second life program. It describes the future evolution of the population and the stay in institutional care. The empirical part focuses on the elderly who live in homes for seniors in the South Moravian Region. It finds out the seniors’ interests, their physical and mental activity and how they fulfill their free time in residential homes. It examines the need for further development and education of seniors.
