Abstract:

Název práce: Popírání holocaustu a jeho funkce ve společnosti Ve své bakalářské práci se zabývám popírači holocaustu jako sociálním hnutím a jejich funkcemi ve společnosti. V první části je stručně nastíněna charakteristika hnutí, jeho historický vývoj, který započal již ve dvacátých letech minulého století, a hlavní představitelé. Dále je zmíněno, že popírači používají pro komunikaci svých cílů specifického jazyka. Jsou rozebrány také jejich metody a pozornost je věnována také internetu jako hlavnímu médiu, prostřednictvím kterého popírači v současnosti šíří své myšlenky. V druhé části jsou popsány a na jednotlivých případech pak analyzovány funkce, které popírání holocaustu zastává ve společnosti. Popírání holocaustu plní ve společnosti často funkci legitimizace, ať už se jedná o legitimizaci boje proti Izraeli, ospravedlnění minulosti nebo obhajobu sociálního nacionalismu. Dále vystupuje jakožto kauzální atribuce a napomáhá tak konstruování světa jedince a celé skupiny. Je zmíněno také to, jaké jsou reakce společnosti na popírače, zda a jak se proti popírání brání, jsou také nastíněny klady a zápory této obrany.

Abstract:

Title of work: Holocaust denial and functions it plays in a society This paper is focused on holocaust deniers as social movement and functions they play in a society. In the first part the characteristic of movement whose origin lies in twenties of twenty century as well as the historical development are briefly defined. Then the paper pays attention to the specific language used by deniers to reach their goals and aims. Deniers’ methods are analyzed and the attention is also paid to the internet as the main medium through which deniers spread their thesis nowadays. In the second part the functions which denial stands to the society are described and analyzed on the examples. Holocaust denial plays often the role of legitimization. This can be legitimization of the fight against Israel, justification of the past or defense of social nationalism. It can also play the role of causal attribution and through this it helps to construct the world of individual and the whole group. There is also mention about the way how the society reacts to deniers and if and how the society defends itself.
