The Bayeux Tapestry - Sacral or Secular Narration?
Abstract:
Tapisérie z Bayeux patří mezi nejvýznamnější uměleckohistorické objekty, jež se dochovaly z 11. st až do současnosti. Snahou této studie je zodpovědět na otázku, kterou si při zkoumání výšivky položilo již velké množství badatelů: Měli bychom předmět vnímat jako objekt sakrální či sekulární? Práce se na problematiku povahy této pozoruhodné památky snaží nahlížet zejména z pohledu její funkce.
Abstract:
The Bayeux Tapestry is one of the most important art-historical artefacts, which have survived from 11th century up to the present day. The main focus of this thesis is to answer a question to which many scholars tried to find an answer: Should we perceive the embroidery as a sacral or secular object?
