Anotácia:

Magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá nově vznikajícím žánrem nebinárních memoárů v současném americkém kontextu. Cílem práce je zasadit tři memoáry nebinárních autorů do kontextu současných queer memoárů a identifikovat techniky, které autoři používají pro vykreslení a vyprávění identity v primárních textech. Sdílené prvky primárních textů, které souvisí se způsobem, jakým je identita protagonistů vykreslena, jako například problémy týkající se jazyka a těla či mezilidské vztahy, jsou identifikovány. Text analyzuje, jak k nim autoři přistupují a jak je znázorňují. Dále text představuje žánr memoárů a stručně nastiňuje vliv postmodernismu a queer na způsob, jakým jsou v memoárech vykreslovány identity. Poté zvažuje pozici primárních textů v rámci tohoto žánru. Na závěr staví na této diskusi při analýze vykreslení identit v primárních textech.

Abstract:

The Master’s diploma thesis deals with the emerging genre of a nonbinary memoir in the contemporary American context. The thesis aims to position three memoirs by nonbinary authors in the context of a queer memoir, and to identify the techniques they use to portray and narrate identities in the primary texts. Shared elements in the three primary texts, which relate to the identity portrayal of the protagonists, such as language and body related issues as well as interpersonal relationships are identified. The way these are approached and depicted is analysed. Furthermore, the thesis introduces the memoir genre and discusses the impact of postmodernism and queer on the way identities are narrated in the respective genre. It deliberates the position of the primary texts within the genre. Lastly it builds on this discussion to analyse the way identities are portrayed in the primary texts.
