Competitiveness of the Czech Sector of Financial Services within the EU

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá konkurenceschopností českého sektoru finančních služeb, jejím výpočtem a porovnáním s Evropskou unií. V první části práce je charakterizována konkurenceschopnost z mikroekonomického a makroekonomického hlediska, popsány konkurenční výhody a vybrané základní konkurenční strategie. V závěru první části jsou vysvětleny základní přístupy k měření konkurenceschopnosti. Druhá část práce se věnuje sektoru finančních služeb. Nejprve popisuje finanční systém, dále finanční služby jako takové, a nakonec jsou představeny subjekty působící ve finančním sektoru. Poslední, tedy třetí, část se snaží objasnit otázku, jak konkurenceschopný je český sektor finančních služeb v rámci Evropské unie. Pomocí vybraných metod je vypočtena míra konkurenceschopnosti českých finančních služeb a výsledek odůvodněn. V závěru práce je nastíněn možný budoucí vývoj tohoto sektoru.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is breaking down the competitiveness of the Czech financial services sector, its calculation and comparison with the European Union. In the first section of the thesis the competitiveness is considered from the micro economical and macro economical point of view, explaining the competitive advantages and selected basic strategies of competing. In conclusion of the first section, the basic approaches on how to measure the competitiveness are explained. The second part of this thesis is dedicated to the sector of financial services, where at first the financial system is defined and further in the second section the financial services are broken down into detail. Last part of the second section introduces subjects important to the financial sector. The third and last section of the thesis is considering the ability of the Czech financial sector to compete within the framework of the European Union. Using selected methods, the competitiveness extent of the Czech financial services is calculated and the result is adequately justified. In the conclusion of the coursework the possible future development of this sector is insinuated and studied.
