Abstract:

Disertační práce pojednává o fenoménu kritické myšlení a jeho postavení v rámci terciárního vzdělávání. Konkrétně se zaměřuje na výzkum úrovně kritického myšlení u studentů vybrané fakulty humanitních studií. V teoretické části autorka objasňuje terminologické zakotvení pojmu kritického myšlení, a to pohledem českých i zahraničních autorů. Dále představuje modely kritického myšlení, spolu s jeho strategiemi, komponentami a charakteristikou kriticky myslícího jedince. Pod pojmem komponenty zahrnuje schopnosti, dovednosti, kompetence kritického myšlení, jako je například interpretace, dedukce, argumentace nebo vyvozování domněnek. Druhá kapitola pracuje s metodami kritického myšlení v kontextu vysokoškolské přípravy. Především vymezuje metodu kritického čtení, kritického psaní nebo metodu kladení otázek. Předposlední kapitola se zabývá výzkumy v oblasti kritického myšlení. Autorka analyzuje deskriptivní výzkumy kritického myšlení a také výzkumy, které analyzují vztahy mezi kritickým myšlením a vybranými proměnnými. Na závěr teoretické části je zasazena kapitola konceptualizace teoretických východisek, která shrnuje předcházející kapitoly a předkládá hypoteticko-deduktivní model, který je ověřován v empirické části disertační práce. Empirická část prezentuje a interpretuje výsledky výzkumného šetření, které zkoumalo úroveň kritického myšlení studentů fakulty humanitních studií a dávalo ji do vzájemného vztahu se studijním prospěchem, motivací, studijním stylem, studijní úspěšností, preferencí studovaných předmětů a sebehodnocením studentů. Disertační práce uvádí četné zjištění, a to jak v deskriptivní, tak v relační rovině. Na závěr autorka předkládá interpretaci a diskuzi, spolu s doporučením pro praktické využití.

Abstract:

This dissertation deals with the phenomenon of critical thinking and its position within tertiary education. Particularly, it focuses on the research of the level of critical thinking in students of a selected faculty of humanities. In the theoretical part, the terminological position of the term “critical thinking” is clarified, as viewed by both Czech and foreign authors. Further, models of critical thinking are introduced, together with its strategies, components, and the characteristics of a critically thinking individual. The term “components” includes abilities, skills, and competences of critical thinking, such as interpretation, deduction, argumentation, and drawing of assumptions. The second chapter deals with the methods of critical thinking in the context of university preparation. It primarily determines the method of critical thinking, of critical writing, and of asking questions. The penultimate chapter deals with researches performed in the field of critical thinking. Descriptive researches of critical thinking are analysed, as well as researches which analyse the relations between critical thinking and selected variables. The last chapter of the theoretical part includes the conceptualisation of the theoretical basis, summarises the previous chapters and presents a hypothetical-deductive model, which is verified in the empirical part of the dissertation. The empirical part presents and interprets the results of the research which dealt with the level of critical thinking in students of a faculty of humanities and placed it into a mutual relationship with the school grades, motivation, style of studying, school success rate, preferred subjects, and self-evaluation of the students. This dissertation presents a number of findings, both in the descriptive and relational levels. In conclusion, interpretation and discussion are included, together with recommendations for practical utilisation.
