The relationship of human and machine in decision-making process and related risks

Abstract:

Umělá inteligence se v některých odvětvích stává významným prvkem nebo samostatnou entitou v procesu rozhodování. Tato aplikace umělé inteligence však za některých okolností obnáší řadu rizik. Cílem této práce je zhodnotit rizika a dopady využití počítačů, zejména umělé inteligence, v procesu rozhodování a také navrhnout kroky, které by mohly vést k zmírnění nebo kompletní eliminaci těchto rizik. Za tímto účelem jsou identifikovány různé přístupy k rozhodovacímu procesu člověka a stroje a implementaci umělé inteligence na základě dostupné literatury. Tyto přístupy jsou dále porovnány a jsou identifikovány jejich klíčové charakteristiky, zejména s důrazem na případné chyby, které v tomto procesu mohou u jednotlivých přístupů vznikat. Na základě těchto charakteristik a řady argumentů jsou poté navrhována řešení pro zlepšení těchto přístupů a jejich možné kombinace. Výsledky odpovídají stanovenému cíli, ale vyžadují rozšíření na základě kontextu, ve kterém je rozhodovací proces realizován. Navrhované kroky zároveň kvůli rozsahu tématu nechávají prostor pro diskusi, případně další výzkum této problematiky.

Abstract:

Artificial intelligence is becoming a relevant part of the decision-making process or an individual decision-making entity in some industries. However, such application of artificial intelligence may under some circumstances concern several risks. The goal of this paper is to evaluate risks and impact of the use of computers and especially artificial intelligence in the decision-making process, as well as to draft such steps which could be used to mitigate or eliminate the aforementioned risks. This is done by identifying the various approaches to decision-making of both humans and machines and the implementation of artificial intelligence in relevant published literature. These approaches are then compared, and their key characteristics are identified, mainly regarding the potential errors which may occur with each of these approaches. Solutions intended to improve the approaches and their possible combinations are designed, based on the identified characteristics and a set of arguments. The results correspond to the goals set; however, they should be augmented in relation to the context in which the decision-making making process is realized. At the same time, the steps offered in this paper are open to discussion or additional research due to the extent of this topic.
