Economic growth - past, present and future

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce „Ekonomický růst: minulost, současnost, budoucnost“ je podat ucelený přehled růstu světové ekonomiky v dlouhodobém časovém horizontu. První část práce prezentuje soudobou nerovnost mezi ekonomikami světa prostřednictvím hodnot výkonnostních ukazatelů. Ve druhé části je zachycen dlouhodobý světový ekonomický růst, od počátku nového letopočtu, časů minimální disparity mezi jednotlivými regiony světa, po současnost, období silné divergence. Hodnoty relevantních ukazatelů ekonomického růstu jsou doplněny o faktory stojící za danou úrovní hospodářské prosperity. Předmětem poslední části diplomové práce je zhodnocení možného vývoje budoucího dlouhodobého ekonomického výkonu na základě predikcí významných ekonomů.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis, which is called “Economic growth: Past, Present and Future”, is to provide a comprehensive overview of the global economic growth over the long term. The first part of this thesis presents the contemporary inequality between the economies of the world through the values of performance indicators. The second part captures the long-term global economic growth since the beginning of the new era, times of the minimal disparity between individual regions of the world, to the present, a period of strong divergence. The values of the relevant indicators of the economic growth are complemented by factors standing behind the level of economic prosperity. The subject of the second & last part of this thesis is to evaluate the possible development of the future long-term economic performance based on the predictions of well known and respected prominent economists.
