Phenomenon of singles in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je poskytnout náhled na vývoj a možné důsledky fenoménu singles v České republice. Pro zajištění kvalitního náhledu na tento fenomén je v práci vycházeno především z dat získaných ze statistických ročenek a Sčítání lidu, domů a bytů prováděné Českým statistickým úřadem. Také jsou zde využita data ze statistického úřadu Evropské unie. Dále jsou v práci využita data získaná z vlastního průzkumu autora práce, který provedl průzkum prostřednictvím internetového dotazníku na studentech Vysoké školy ekonomické, aby zjistil výskyt singles mezi studenty této školy. V další části práce je popsán a vysvětlen vývoj sňatečnosti, rozvodovosti a domácnosti jednotlivců jak na regionální, tak na celorepublikové úrovni. Pozornost je také věnována faktickým manželstvím, která začínají v mnoha případech lidé preferovat před právními sňatky. V této části práce jsou pro zajištění nejvyšší srovnatelnosti využity data ze SLDB 2001 a SLDB 2011.Na závěr je poté možné nalézt celkové zhodnocení fenoménu singles v České republice včetně krátké předpovědi, u které byla využita data z projekce obyvatelstva České republiky provedené Českým statistickým úřadem.V práci je užita řada tabulek a grafů, které názorně zobrazují daný jen v rámci určitého časového intervalu. Pro zajištění maximální srovnatelnosti byly tabulky a grafy tvořeny převážně z dat ze Sčítání lidu, domů a bytů.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to provide an overview of the development and possible consequences of singles phenomenon in the Czech Republic. In order to present a good overview of this phenomenon, the work is based mainly on data obtained from statistical yearbooks and Population and Housing Census by the Czech Statistical Office. Data from the European Union's statistical office is also used.In addition, the data obtained from the author's own research, which was conducted by an Internet survey on students of the University of Economics, was used to find the occurrence of singles among students of this school. The form of the questionnaire can be found in the appendix.In the next part, the development of marriages, divorces and individual households is described and explained on a national and regional level. Gradually the attention is more focused on actual marriages than on juridical ones. In this part of my thesis, the data from SLDB 2001 and SLDB 2011 is used to ensure the highest comparability with each other.Finally, we can find an overall assessment of the singles phenomenon in the Czech Republic, including a short forecast using data from the projection of the population of the Czech Republic by the Czech Statistical Office.Number of charts are presented in this thesis, in which the particular singles phenomenon is illustrated within a time interval. These charts and tables were constructed using data from Population and Housing Census only for maximal objectivity.
