Pregnancy and Childbirth in Women of Different Cultures and Religions

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá těhotenstvím a porodem žen jiné kultury a náboženství, konkrétně žen romského etnika a vietnamské národnosti. Zabývá se specifickými potřebami v oblasti bolesti, kultury a náboženství, vzdělávání i předporodních kurzů. Teoretická část se věnuje fyziologickému těhotenství a samotnému porodu, jak spontánnímu, tak ope-račnímu, které mohou mít vliv na vlastní vnímání a prožívání těhotenství a porodu rom-ských a vietnamských žen. Třetí kapitola se věnuje mýtům, pověrám, tradicím, zvykům a rituálům, včetně specifickému prožívání bolesti v průběhu těhotenství a porodu v souvislost s danou kulturou a etnikem. V praktické části jsou zpracované a analyzované informace získané pomocí polostrukturo-vaných rozhovorů 4 žen romské a 4 žen vietnamské národnosti, u nichž bylo podmínkou, že alespoň jednou rodily. Hlavním cílem bylo si ověřit, zda tyto ženy v souvislosti s jejich kulturou používaly nějaké rituály, v těhotenství i při samotném porodu a zda měly nějaké specifické potřeby v průběhu těhotenství a při porodu, zejména v oblasti prožívání (bolesti) a v oblasti dodržování rituálů.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the pregnancy and the birth of women of other cultures and religions, namely women of Roma ethnicity and Vietnamese nationality. It addresses the specific needs of pain, culture and religion, education and pre-post courses. The theoretical part deals with the physiological pregnancy and the birth itself, both spontaneous and ope-rative, which can influence the perception and experience of pregnancy and birth of Roma-ni and Vietnamese women. The third chapter deals with myths, superstitions, customs, traditions and rituals, including the specific experience of pain during pregnancy and chil-dbirth associated with a given cult and ethnicity. In the practical part are processed and analyzed information obtained through semi-structured interviews of 4 Romani women and 4 women of Vietnamese nationality, who were the condition of giving birth at least once. The main objective was to check whether these women used rituals during pregnancy and during childbirth, and whether they had any specific needs during pregnancy and childbirth, especially in the area of experiencing (pain) and adherence to rituals.
