Phenomenon of a Living history (made on an example of czech and moravian Euroindians and their gathering on pow wow)

Abstract:

Tématem práce je objasnění pojmu a fenoménu „oživená historie“ na příkladu euroindiánů a jejich setkání na slavnosti powwow. Studie popisuje stručný vývoj a kořeny celé subkultury, která se zabývá rekonstrukcí historických událostí, napodobováním života v minulosti a experimentální archeologií. Dále popisuje vznik a historii spolků zabývajících se specificky kulturou severoamerických Indiánů, a to nejprve z pohledu evropského, tzn. hnutím euroindiens. V České republice popisuje vznik a aktivity organizace Indian Corral a dalších několika euroindiánských kmenů. V závěru práce popisuje historii powwow na moravě a průběh konkrétního setkání. Kvalitativní výzkum provedený v terénu na několika setkáních euroindiánů na Moravě analyzuje motivy aktérů a jejich vztah ke kultuře severoamerických Indiánů.

Abstract:

The subject of this thesis is an explanation of the concept and phenomenon of the "living history" based on an example of Euroindians and their gathering at the PowWow celebration. The study briefly describes progress and roots of the whole subculture, which is concerned with reconstruction of historic events, imitation of the past life and experimental archeology. Further it describes the origin and history of gilds engaged in the specific culture of North American Indians, firstly from the european view, Euroindiens movement. It describes the origin and activities of the Indian Corral organisation and some other Euroindian tribes in Czech Republic. At the end the thesis describes the PowWow history and going of a factual gathering in Moravia. The qualitative research conducted in the field at a number of euroindian gatherings in Moravia analyses motives of the actors and their relationship to North American Indian culture.
