Strategic analysis of Avast Software s.r.o. and its association with NortonLifeLock

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je vyhodnotit situaci v podniku Avast Software s.r.o. před spojením s podnikem NortonLifeLock Inc., dopady spojení obou podniků a navrhnout doporučení pro budoucí strategický rozvoj po dokončení spojení a vzniku nového společného podniku Gen Digital Inc. Součástí bude analýza okolí podniku Avast Software s.r.o. a jeho vnitřních zdrojů za pomoci metod strategické analýzy v rámci předmětu Strategická analýza vyučovaného na VŠE v Praze. Avast Software s.r.o. (nyní Gen Digital Inc.) je předním českým podnikem, který se zabývá vývojem a prodejem antivirového software a souvisejících produktů (čističe zařízení, VPN atd.). Sídlo podniku je v Praze na Pankráci a řadí se mezi jedny z největších podniků v ČR. Podnik jsem si vybral, protože jsem již delší dobu obdivoval jeho byznysové úspěchy (růst, maržovost, ziskovost, akvizice podniku AVG) a aktuálně v něm již přes rok a půl pracuji v obchodním oddělení. Přínosem práce budou praktické návrhy na vylepšení fungování důležitých částí a oblastí činnosti nově vzniklého podniku s návrhem implementace do praxe spoluprací s konkrétními zaměstnanci nově vzniklého podniku Gen Digital.

Abstract:

The aim of this work is to evaluate the situation in Avast Software s.r.o. before the merger with NortonLifeLock Inc., the effects of the merger of the two companies and to propose recommendations for future strategic development after the completion of the merger and the creation of the new joint venture Gen Digital Inc.. This will include an analysis of the surroundings of Avast Software s.r.o. and its internal resources with the help of strategic analysis methods as part of the Strategic Analysis course taught at the University of Economics in Prague. Avast Software s.r.o. (now Gen Digital Inc.) is a leading Czech company that develops and sells antivirus software and related products (device cleaners, VPNs, etc.). The headquarters of the company is in Prague in Pankrác and ranks among the largest companies in the Czech Republic. I chose the company because I have long admired its business successes (growth, margins, profitability, acquisition of AVG) and I have currently been working there for over a year and a half in the sales department. The contribution of the work will be practical suggestions for improving the functioning of important parts and areas of activity of the newly established company with a proposal for implementation into practice by cooperation with specific employees of the newly established company Gen Digital.
