A Brand Analysis of the Czech Pirate Party and its leader Ivan Bartoš

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je popsat rozdíly ve vnímání osobnosti značky České pirátské strany a jejího předsedy Ivana Bartoše. Výzkum porovnává dvě perspektivy, zaprvé vnímání členů a následně veřejnosti v návaznosti na významný úspěch strany ve volbách do Poslanecké sněmovny Parlamentu České republiky na podzim roku 2017. Využit je k tomu pětidimenzionální model OCEAN Gerarda Sauciera, který je vhodným nástrojem pro popis a porovnání osobnosti značky strany i jejího lídra. Pro zkoumání rozdílu ve vnímání značek mezi členy a veřejností se práce opírá o teorii GAPs Helmuta Schneidera. Vycházíme přitom z předpokladu, že členové strany budou osobnosti značek hodnotit pozitivněji než veřejnost. Kromě srovnání vnímání obou značek mezi členy a veřejností práce popisuje odlišnosti ve vnímání osobnosti značky strany a jejího lídra.

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis is to describe the differences in brand personality perception of the Czech Pirate Party and its leader Ivan Bartoš. The research design compares two perspectives, first, of the party members, and second, of the general public following the breakthrough success of the Pirate Party in the autumn 2017 elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. The analysis uses the five-dimensional Gerard Saucier’s OCEAN model for the descriptive part and also a comparison of the party brand and its leader’s personalities. Furthermore, Helmut Schneider’s GAPs theory is utilised in order to analyse the differences in brand perception among the party members and the public. The assumption is that the party members perceive the brand features more positively than the public. In addition to comparison of the perception of both brands between the party members and the public, the analysis describes the differences in perception of the party and its leader’s brand personalities.
