Russian information operations – history, forms and use

Anotácia:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na použití informačních operací pro ovlivnění smýšlení cílové skupiny. Práce zpočátku objasní historický kontext, ve kterém se aktéři nacházejí. Dále předvede formy vedení informačních operací včetně jejich příkladů. Následují kapitoly zaměřené na motivaci pro použití informací. Následná kapitola vyzdvihuje potřebu informačního boje Ruska za udržení si svých vlastních zájmů na svém území. Následují kapitoly zaměřené na dopady dezinformačních kampaní, globální důsledky vedení informační války a budoucnost ruských informačních operací. V závěru práce je kapitola zaměřená na ochranu proti ruským informačním operacím a vše zakončuje případová studie, v niž je popsaný příklad využívání informací během invaze na Ukrajinu v únoru 2022. Závěr práce shrnuje fakta zjištěná při psaní práce a vyvozuje doporučení.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on the use of information warfare to influence the mindset of the target group. The thesis initially explains the historical context in which the actors are situated. It will then demonstrate forms of conducting information operations, including examples of them. This is followed by chapters focusing on the motivations for using information. The subsequent chapter highlights the need for Russia's information warfare to maintain its own interests on its territory. This is followed by chapters focusing on the impact of disinformation campaigns, the global implications of waging information warfare, and the future of Russian information operations. The thesis concludes with a chapter on defending against Russian information operations, and all concludes with a case study describing the use of information during the February 2022 invasion of Ukraine. The conclusion of the thesis summarizes the facts found during the writing of the thesis and draws recommendations.
