Adaptation of the THINC-It screening tool

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá screeningovým nástrojem THINC-it a možností jeho adaptace na dospělou českou populaci. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda se zmíněný nástroj jeví jako vhodný pro použití ke screeningu kognitivních deficitů u osob s depresí v tuzemských podmínkách. Zároveň je cílem práce získat další informace týkající se kognitivních funkcí u depresivních pacientů a rozšířit tím poznatky o dané problematice. První, teoretická část práce, se věnuje depresivní poruše, příčinám jejího vzniku, vymezení této poruchy i její léčbě. Poté je pozornost věnována jednotlivým kognitivním funkcím a v neposlední řadě práce shrnuje poznatky o kognitivních funkcích u depresivní poruchy a možnostech jejich diagnostiky. Metodologická část popisuje vzorek zúčastněných osob na základě získaných dat a také jednotlivé vybrané metody. Následuje porovnání výkonů dvou skupin participantů v testových metodách. Poté je ověřována souvislost mezi závažností depresivní symptomatiky a kognitivním výkonem a dále mezi vnímanou závažností kognitivních deficitů a kognitivním výkonem. Z výsledků této práce vyplynulo, že existují staticky významné rozdíly v kognitivním výkonu osob s diagnózou deprese a mezi zdravými osobami. Výsledky též ověřily, že test vykazuje souběžnou validitu s testy paralelními. Výsledky práce nenalezly vztah mezi subjektivně vnímanou mírou závažnosti symptomů deprese a kognitivním výkonem ani mezi subjektivně vnímanou závažností kognitivních deficitů a kognitivním výkonem. Stejně tak nebyl potvrzen vztah mezi subjektivně vnímanou úspěšností v kognitivních testech a skutečnými výsledky. Zároveň však byl nalezen významný vztah mezi věkem a výkonem v kognitivních testech.

Abstract:

This work deals with the screening tool THINC-it and the possibility of its adaptation to the adult Czech population. The aim of the work is to find out whether the mentioned tool seems to be suitable for use in screening cognitive deficits in people with depression in domestic conditions. At the same time, the aim of the work is to obtain additional information regarding cognitive functions in depressed patients and thus expand knowledge about the issue. The first, theoretical part of the work, deals with depressive disorder, the causes of its occurrence, the definition of this disorder and its treatment. Then attention is paid to individual cognitive functions and, last but not least, the work summarizes the knowledge about cognitive functions in depressive disorder and the possibilities of their diagnosis. The methodological part describes a sample of stakeholders based on the data obtained and individual selected methods. It is a comparison of the performances of two groups of participants in test methods. Then, the relationship between the severity of depressive symptoms and cognitive performance and between the perception of the severity of cognitive deficits and cognitive performance is verified. The results of this work showed that there are statically significant differences in the cognitive performance of people diagnosed with depression and between healthy people. The results also verified that the test shows concurrent validity with parallel tests. The results did not find a relationship between the subjectively perceived severity of depressive symptoms and cognitive performance or between the subjectively perceived severity of cognitive deficits and cognitive performance. Likewise, the relationship between subjectively perceived success in cognitive tests and actual results has not been confirmed. At the same time, however, a significant relationship was found between age and performance in cognitive tests.
