Pozdně-glaciální a holocenní sukcese rašelinné vegetace na lokalitě Pihoviny (Českomoravská vrchovina) rekonstruovaná pomocí makrozbytkové analýzy

Late-glacial and Holocene succession of mire vegetation in Pihoviny site (Českomoravská vrchovina Mts) using plant macrofossil analysis

Abstract:

Českomoravská vrchovina je známá svými rašeliništi. Výzkum těchto rašelinišť se dosud soustředil většinou na recentní vegetaci, popřípadě pylové analýzy sedimentů, tato práce se však zaměřuje na zde málo využívanou metodu analýzy makrozbytků (semena, plody, pletiva, dřevo a uhlíky) v rašelinném profilu z rašeliniště Pihoviny u Cikháje. Tato metoda rekonstruuje vývoj rašelinné vegetace na lokální úrovni, zatímco pylové analýzy ukazují sukcesi spíše na krajinné úrovni. Radiokarbonové datování vzorků z deseti vrstev profilu umožnilo určit jeho stáří a také rychlost ukládání sedimentu v průběhu času. Analýza LOI odhalila období změn organického podílu profilu a recentní fytocenologické snímky z okolí lokality pomohly zařadit fosilní záznam k jednotlivým vegetačním typům. Báze profilu je datována na přelom plného a pozdního glaciálu (cca 14 000 cal BP). Půdní profil je hluboký 174 cm. Vývoj je zaznamenán pomocí stratigrafických diagramů s definovanými vývojovými zónami. Sukcese na lokalitě probíhala od slatinné vegetace s dnes vzácnými druhy, jako je Meesia uliginosa, Drepanocladus trifarius a Scorpidium scorpioides, přes podmáčené smrčiny s Picea abies, až po vlhkou louku s Carex echinata, C. nigra, Juncus effusus a Sagina nodosa, která svým druhovým složením značně odpovídá současné vegetaci na lokalitě. Pomocí ordinačních analýz byla studována podobnost mezi fosilními vzorky i recentními fytocenologickými snímky, a také podobnost mezi fosilními a recentními daty navzájem. Práce ukazuje použitelnost a důležitost makrozbytkové analýzy pro studium vývoje rašelinišť. Jelikož těchto biotopů v současné době nejen na Českomoravské vrchovině neustále ubývá, bylo by vhodné se o jejich minulosti dozvědět více, dokud tuto možnost máme.

Abstract:

The Bohemian-Moravian Highlands are known for their peatlands. Research on these peatlands has mostly focused on recent vegetation or pollen analysis of sediments, but this thesis focuses on the little-used method of analysis of macrofossils (seeds, fruits, plant tissues, wood and charcoal) in the peat profile from the Pihoviny peatland near Cikháj. This method reconstructs the evolution of the peat vegetation at a local level, whereas pollen analyses show succession more at a landscape level. Radiocarbon dating of samples from ten layers of the profile allowed to determine its age and also the rate of sediment deposition over time. LOI analysis revealed periods of change in the organic content of the profile, and recent phytocenological relevés from the surrounding area of the site helped to assign the fossil record to individual vegetation types. The base of the profile is dated to the turn of the Full and Late Glacial periods (ca. 14 000 cal BP). The peat profile is 174 cm deep. The development is recorded by using stratigraphic diagrams with defined development zones. The succession at the site has ranged from fen vegetation with now rare species such as Meesia uliginosa, Drepanocladus trifarius and Scorpidium scorpioides, to wet spruce forest with Picea abies, to wet meadow with Carex echinata, C. nigra, Juncus effusus and Sagina nodosa, which in its species composition corresponds closely to the current vegetation at the site. The similarity between fossil samples and recent phytocenological relevés, as well as the similarity between fossil and recent data to each other, was studied using ordination analyses. The thesis demonstrates the applicability and importance of macrofossil analysis for the study of peatland development. As these habitats are currently in constant decline in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands, it would be advisable to learn more about their past while we still have the opportunity.
