Relationships Between Perinatal and Early Postnatal Stress and Psychological Features in Adulthood Based on Stress Markers in Hard Dental Tissues

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá vztahem mezi biomarkery stresu prožitého v raném dětství a psychickými vlastnostmi člověka v dospělosti. V teoretické části je popsán vliv stresu v raných fázích vývoje na vývoj mozku a psychiky v dospělosti. Popsány jsou také potenciální biomarkery prenatálního a časně postnatálního stresu se zaměřením na indikátory v tvrdých zubních tkáních. Na základě teoretických poznatků byl vytvořen předpoklad o souvislosti mezi výskytem časově specifických indikátorů stresu v mléčných zubech a vyššími skóre dotazníků hodnotících úzkostnost a depresivitu. Praktická část je vícepřípadovou studií, ve které jsou srovnána data získaná dotazníkovou metodou a počet indikátorů stresu stanovených mikroskopickou analýzou histologických preparátů mléčných zubů. Ačkoliv tato diplomová práce neumožnila vyslovit jednoznačný závěr o vztahu mezi biomarkery stresu v raném dětství a psychickými vlastnostmi v dospělosti, výsledky nabízí cenné informace a doporučení pro navazující studie zaměřené na výzkum tohoto perspektivního fenoménu.

Abstract:

This thesis attempts to investigate the relationship between bi-omarkers of early childhood stress and psychological characteristics in adulthood. The theoretical part of this thesis describes the effect of stress occurring in the early stages of development on the develop-ment of the brain and psychological characteristics in adulthood. Addi-tionally, potential biomarkers of prenatal and early postnatal stress with a focus on indicators in hard dental tissues are described. The theoretical assumptions gave base for three specific objectives about relationships between early life stress, incidence of time-specific bi-omarkers in deciduous teeth and higher scores in the anxiety and depresivity questionnaires. The practical part is a multi-case study in which the data obtained by the questionnaires and the number of stress indicators determined by microscopic analysis of histological preparations of deciduous teeth are compared. Although this thesis did not provide a clear conclusion about the relationship between bi-omarkers of stress in early childhood and psychological characteristics in adulthood, the results offer valuable information and recommenda-tions for follow-up studies aimed at researching this promising phe-nomenon.
