The draw-a-person technique and patients with depressive disorder

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem výzkumu bylo nalézt souvislosti mezi kresbou lidské postavy a depresivní poruchou. Výzkumný soubor se skládal ze 42 dospělých jedinců s unipolární depresivní poruchou. Kontrolní soubor sestával ze 42 dospělých jedinců bez zjištěné psychiatrické diagnózy. Všem byla administrována Kresba postavy včetně inquiry. Následně byla sledována četnost výskytu vybraných znaků kresby a některé znaky byly bodově hodnoceny. Odchylky od normy a varovné znaky byly blíže rozebrány a popsány. Pro názornost byla uvedena kazuistika depresivního pacienta s podrobným rozborem dvou kreseb i dvou inquiry. Na základě analýzy dat jsem dospěla k závěru, že existují znaky kresby postavy typické pro depresivní pacienty, jako jsou chybějící oblečení, ruce, chodila, vlasy, obličej nebo jeho části. Smutný výraz ve tváři, nedostatek detailů nebo detaily bizarní, vyprázdněné postavy, nedostatečné rozlišení pohlaví, velikost postav menší než pět centimetrů a slabé a nejisté vedení čáry.

Abstract:

The main aim of this study was to find a relationship between the Figure Drawing Test (FDT) and depressive disorder. The research group consisted of 42 adults with unipolar depression. Comparative group consisted of 42 adults without a psychiatric diagnosis. The Figure Drawing Test was administered to both groups including inquiry. Then the frequency of selected signs of drawings was monitored and some signs were scored. Deviations from the norm and warning signs were closely analyzed and described. To illustrate the situation, it was given a case study of depressed patients with a detailed analysis of two drawings and two inquiries. Based on data analysis, I conclude that there are signs of figure drawings typical for depressive patients, such as missing clothes, hands, feet, hair, face or part of it. Sad expression in face, the lack of details or bizarre details, emptied figures, insufficient distinction of sex, body size of less than five centimetres and weak and uncertain leadership of line.
