The Analysis of European Venues for the Biathlon World Cup

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou devíti evropských závodišť, v nichž se pravidelně pořádá Světový pohár v biatlonu. Jejím cílem je ověřit, zda vybraná biatlonová centra splňují pravidla stanovená Mezinárodní biatlonovou unií. První část práce popisuje dosavadní poznatky týkající se vnějších faktorů a sportovně-technických podmínek sportoviště, jako jsou klimatické podmínky, diváci, servisní tým, závodníci, dopravní infrastruktura, bezpečnost na sportovišti, střelnice, prostor stadionu a jeho okolí, závodní tratě. Obsahem druhé části práce je samotná analýza jednotlivých závodišť. Seskupuje informace o poloze, dopravní infrastruktuře, klimatických podmínkách a zázemí areálů. Součástí výzkumu jsou postřehy a komentáře daných sportovišť získané od sportovců, trenérů a diváků skrze dotazníky a rozhovory. Práce shromažďuje dostatek informací, které mohou využít biatlonové týmy a diváci cestující do zmíněných lokalit. Pořadatelům Světových pohárů v biatlonu tato práce poskytuje jednak hodnocení, ale také doporučení k vylepšení zázemí areálů a organizaci závodů.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with an analysis of nine European venues where the Biathlon World Cup is organized regularly. The aim is to verify whether chosen biathlon centres meet conditions set by the International Biathlon Union. The first part of the thesis describes existing knowledge concerning extrinsic factors and sports-technical conditions of the venue, such as climatic conditions, spectators, service team, competitors, traffic infrastructure, safety on a sports ground, stadium area and its surroundings, and tracks. The second part of the thesis contents the analyses of particular venues. It summarizes information about location, traffic infrastructure, climatic conditions and facilities of the centres. The research also includes reflections and comments on the particular venues acquired by sportsmen, coaches and spectators via questionnaires and interviews. The thesis gathers enough pieces of information to be used by biathlon teams and spectators who travel to these particular localities. It also provides organizers of Biathlon World Cups with evaluation and recommendations for an improvement of facilities of the centres and organization of competitions.
