Abstract:

Moderní filmy a počítačové hry zobrazují post-apokalypsu ve formě nehostinných míst, ve kterých se střetávají etické zásady dvou odlišných světů – éry světa před apokalypsou, a toho, který přichází po ní. Záměrem této práce je definovat pojem apokalypsy a studovat morální rozhodování, vývoj a meze etiky ve světech herních titulů Fallout a filmových titulů A Boy and His Dog a The Book of Eli. Práce také poukazuje na rapidní změnu v sociálním chápání morálky a etiky obou světů.

Abstract:

Modern movies and videogames portray the post-apocalypse in the form of inhospitable places, within which collide the ethical principles of two distinct worlds – the era of the world before the apocalypse, and of that which comes after it. The purpose of this thesis is to define the term “Apocalypse,” and to study the morale decision-making, development, and ethical bounds in the worlds of the Fallout gaming titles, and the movies A Boy and His Dog and The Book of Eli. The thesis also points at the rapid change in social understanding of morality and ethics between the two worlds.
