Female Figure from the Drawing to the Sculpture in the Early Work of Vincenc Makovský

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje analýze sochařské kresby Vincence Makovského s přesahem do jeho sochařského díla. Pokouší se tak nastínit nový, komplexní pohled na tvorbu tohoto zásadního umělce dvacátého století, a to s pomocí nově objevených autorových kreseb. Pozornost je věnována především dílům s ženským figurálním tématem. Práce se také zabývá obecným fenoménem ženské tématiky v sochařství a problematikou moderní sochařské kresby. V práci je reflektován i kontext událostí počátku českého moderního sochařství, které měly vliv na tvorbu sochaře.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the analysis of the sculptural drawing of Vincenc Makovský with an overlap into his sculptural work. It is trying to present a new, comprehensive interpretation of the work of this important artist of the twentieth century, using newly discovered drawings. main focus is on works with female figural theme. The thesis also covers a general phenomenon of female themes in sculpture and the issue of modern sculptural drawings. The work also brings in the context of the events in the beginnings of Czech modern sculpture, which influenced sculptor´s work.
