Abstract:

Vysoko-dimenzionálne dáta, ako napríklad obrázky, tvoria početnú časť digitálnych dátových záznamov. Prirodzene, ako požiadavky na čo najefektívnejšiu úschovu a vyhľadávanie rastú, čoraz viac výskumu sa sústredí na zlepšenie riešení pre tieto problémy. Vlastnosti multimediálnych dát však presahujú kompetencie domény tradičných databáz, no sľubné výsledky sme videli v doméne podobnostného vyhľadávania. Jeho cieľom je organizovať vysoko-dimenzionálne dáta tak, aby vyhľadávanie bolo čo najrýchlejšie a najpresnejšie. Tieto systémy sú však postavené na neflexibilných štruktúrach bez možnosti optimalizácie pre konkrénu dátovú sadu. S cieľom zlepšiť presnosť a efektívnosť zodpovedania dotazov, v tejto práci predstavím indexačnú štruktúru postavenú na modeloch strojového učenia pre doménu podobnostného vyhľadávania. V texte práce opisujem koncept tohto systému, jeho implementáciu a experimentálne ho vyhodnocujem na dvoch datasetoch v porovnaní s dvomi používanými indexmi - M-tree a M-index.

Abstract:

High-dimensional data, such as images, form a significant portion of digital data collections. Naturally, as the requirements for increasingly efficient storage and searching are growing, more research is being dedicated to improving solutions for these very problems. Due to the nature of multimedia data, traditional database systems fall short to provide such solutions, however, we have seen promising results from the domains of Similarity searching and Content-based retrieval. The goal of both is to organize high-dimensional data in a way that allows for as fast and as accurate retrieval as possible. However, such systems are built on rigid structures with little space for optimizing for a specific dataset. With the goal of improving the accuracy and efficiency of answering queries, in this thesis, I introduce a machine learning-enhanced indexing structure for complex data. Specifically, I describe the concept, the implementation, and present the experimental results on two real-world datasets in comparison to the two state-of-the-art indexing approaches -- M-tree and M-index.
