Obnova druhově bohatých travních porostů v Bílých Karpatech z hlediska fytofágního hmyzu

Restoration of species-rich grasslands in the White Carpathians (Czech Republic) – a perspective on phytophagous insects

Abstract:

Travní porosty jsou ve střední Evropě důležitým biotopem z hlediska ochrany biodiverzity, udržení krajinného rázu, protierozní ochrany půdy i hospodářství, jakožto hlavní zdroj potravy pro dobytek. Již několik desetiletí však dochází k jejich degradaci napříč celou střední Evropou. V průběhu minulého století bylo také mnoho luk a pastvin převedeno na ornou půdu. Přestože je zde již mnoho let také opačná tendence na části těchto ploch travní porosty obnovovat, ne vždy je výsledek z pohledu ochrany přírody uspokojující. Tato práce sestává ze dvou samostatných projektů uskutečněných v letech 2012–2014. V jejich rámci bylo sledováno několik skupin fytofágního hmyzu, konkrétně křísi (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha), ploštice (Hemiptera: Heteroptera), denní motýli (Lepidoptera: Hesperioidea, Papilionoidea, Zygaenidae), mandelinky (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) a nosatci (Coleoptera: Curculionoidea), na znovu zalučněných plochách bývalé orné půdy v jihozápadní části CHKO Bílé Karpaty. Travní porost byl na těchto plochách obnoven v posledních 25 letech jednou z následujících metod: samovolnou sukcesí, výsevem komerční směsi trav a jetelovin nebo výsevem druhově bohaté regionální směsi trav a bylin. Pro srovnání a vyhodnocení úspěšnosti obnovy byl hmyz sledován také na řadě ploch se zachovalými lučními porosty v okolí. Hodnotíme-li obnovu společenstev hmyzu jako replikaci jejich strukturních vlastností a funkčnosti, můžeme v případě společenstev křísů, ploštic, mandelinek i nosatců považovat všechny studované, výše zmíněné metody obnovy v regionu Bílých Karpat za úspěšné, přestože se druhové složení společenstev těchto skupin hmyzu na opětovně zalučněných plochách v současné době významně liší od společenstev zachovalých referenčních lučních porostů. Výjimku představují společenstva denních motýlů, jež jsou na zalučněných plochách výrazně druhově chudší než na okolních zachovalých lučních porostech. Získaná data popisující společenstva modelových skupin hmyzu jednoznačně nevypovídají ve prospěch žádné konkrétní metody obnovy. Namísto volby jednoho způsobu obnovy tak může použití více různých metod při obnově rozsáhlejších oblastí vytvořit mozaiku biotopů lišících se mezi sebou jemnými rozdíly, které navýší šanci, že více druhů rostlin i živočichů v krajině nalezne vhodný biotop. Dále byl v této práci zjištěn vliv několika sledovaných faktorů prostředí, včetně druhového složení vegetace, na utváření společenstev fytofágního hmyzu na znovu založených travních porostech. Pro potvrzení tohoto vlivu by však bylo vhodné opakovat sledování zájmových ploch více let po sobě.

Abstract:

In central Europe, grasslands represent habitats highly important for biodiversity conservation, maintenance of landscape character, anti-erosion protection of soil, as well as economy as the main source of nutrition for livestock. However, their degradation has considerably progressed in several recent decades throughout all central European countries. Many meadows and pastures were also turned into arable land during the last century. Although there has also been a growing effort to restore parts of former grasslands since many years, the results do not always meet the needs of nature conservation. This thesis consists of two projects conducted in 2012–2014. Several groups of phytophagous insects have been surveyed in grasslands restored on ex-arable land in the south-western White Carpathians (Czech Republic), namely leafhoppers and planthoppers (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha), true bugs (Hemiptera: Heteroptera), butterflies and burnet moths (Lepidoptera: Hesperioidea, Papilionoidea, Zygaenidae), leaf beetles (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) and weevils (Coleoptera: Curculionoidea). Samples were taken on sites with grasslands restored in the last 25 years by one of the following methods: spontaneous succession, sowing of commercial seed mixture of grasses and legumes, or by sowing of regional species-rich seed mixture of grasses and herbs. A series of well-preserved grasslands in the surroundings were also sampled as reference sites for assessment of restoration success. If the restoration of insect communities is assessed by their structural and functional characteristics, all studied and above mentioned restoration methods can be considered successful in the White Carpathians, especially for the communities of leafhoppers and planthoppers, true bugs, and phytophagous beetles. Nevertheless, their species composition significantly differs from reference sites at present. Unfortunately, butterflies and burnet moths have not responded that well: their communities on restored grasslands remain species-poor. No restoration method performed unequivocally better than the other methods for any studied insect group. Therefore, using several methods in large-scale grassland restoration projects may be beneficial in creating slightly different habitats and thus increasing the chances for more plant and animal species to co-occur in the landscape. Several factors, including the plant community composition, were found to affect the formation of insect communities in newly established grasslands in the White Carpathians. However, a long-term study of the restored sites is still needed to confirm or better understand their influence.
