Graphomotoric development in the 3rd and 4th grade of the elementary school

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce si klade za cíl svými výsledky podpořit projekt GA ČR GA18-1683352 a vývoj inovativní metody k diagnostice vývojové dysgrafie a obtíží s psaním. K posouzení diagnózy dysgrafie, či obtíží s psaním, je nutné vyšetřit grafomotorické dovednosti a kognitivní schopnosti. Doposud byla diagnostika dysgrafie prováděna především subjektivně. Avšak řešitelé uvedeného projektu navrhují objektivní počítačovou metodu analýzy paměťových a vizuoprostorových schopností dítěte, zkoumají metody digitální parametrizace grafomotorických dovedností a navrhují novou komplexní škálu vývojové dysgrafie. Pomocí matematického modelování řešitelé navrhují systém, který hodnotí dysgrafii na základě nové škály automaticky. Analýzu písemného projevu je možné zkoumat pomocí písemných cvičení psaných na digitálním tabletu. Bakalářská práce si klade za cíl využít poznatky a nástroje výše uvedeného projektu k nalezení a popsání parametrů automatizace psaní. Dovršení automatizace psaní je znakem správného grafomotorického vývoje dítěte středního dětství. Pokud automatizace neproběhne správně, může u dítěte vést až k dysgrafii. Prevalence dysgrafie je 10 – 30%. Jedná se o poruchu učení spojovanou se slabou motorickou kontrolou a nedovršenou automatizací. Nediagnostikovaná dysgrafie může zapříčinit vážné problémy v životě dítěte. Má vliv na studentův akademický úspěch, emocionální well being a přístup ke vzdělávání. Jak již bylo naznačeno, absence automatizace je jasným znakem nedokonalého vývoje písemného projevu. Ve výzkumné části budeme porovnávat dvě skupiny žáků 3. a 4. tříd v parametrech indikujících automatizaci. Z literatury byly vybrány následující parametry: celková délka písma, délka pohybů nad podložkou, rychlost písma, rychlost pohybů nad podložkou, hodnoty švihu, počet přerušení, celkový čas psaní a celkový čas pohybu nad podložkou. Jedná se o kritéria, která určují grafomotorickou dovednost. V rámci bakalářské práce bylo posuzováno 22 žáků 3. tříd a 22 žáků 4. tříd pomocí testové baterie poskytnuté řešiteli výzkumného projektu GA18-168335S. Z testové baterie byly vybrány úlohy přepisu a diktátu. Výše zmíněné parametry, vymezující grafomotorickou úroveň jedince, předpokládáme jako určující pro míru automatizace psaní. Předpokládáme, že se bude úroveň jedinců v míře automatizace lišit, protože přelom 3. a 4. třídy je v literatuře (McCutchen, 1988; Gathercole et al., 2004; Medwell et al., 2009, Tucha et al., 2008; Vágnerová, 2012) popsán jako klíčová etapa pro dovršení vývoje psaní a jeho automatizace.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis aims to support the research of project GA ČR GA18-1683352 and the development of an innovative method for the diagnosis of developmental dysgraphia and writing difficulties. To assess the diagnosis of dysgraphia or writing difficulties, it is necessary to examine graphomotor skills and cognitive abilities. Until now, the diagnosis of dysgraphia has been diagnosed mainly subjectively. Nevertheless, the researchers of the project propose an objective computer method of analysis of memory and visual space abilities of the child, examine methods of digital parameterization of graphomotor skills and propose a new complex scale of developmental dysgraphia. Thanks to mathematical modelling, this project creates a system that evaluates dysgraphia based on new scales automatically. The analysis of written expression can be examined by written exercises written on a digital tablet. The bachelor thesis aims to use the knowledge and tools of the mentioned project to find and describe the parameters of writing automaticity. Completion of writing automaticity is a sign of the correct graphomotor development of a middle childhood child. If the automation is not done properly, it can lead to dysgraphia diagnose. The prevalence of dysgraphia is 10-30%. It is a learning disorder associated with poor motor control and incomplete automation. Undiagnosed dysgraphia can cause serious problems in a child's life. It affects a student's academic success, emotional well-being and approach to education. As already indicated, the absence of automation is a clear sign of the imperfect development of written expression. In the research part, we will compare two groups of 3rd and 4th grade students in parameters indicating writing automation. The following parameters were selected from the literature: length of writing on a surface, length of writing in the air, the velocity of writing on a surface, the velocity of writing in the air, jerk of writing, number of interruptions, total writing time on a surface and total writing time in the air. These are the parameters that determine graphomotor skill. For aims of the bachelor's thesis, 22 3rd grade pupils and 22 4th grade pupils were tested using a test battery provided by the researcher of the research project GA18-168335S. Transcription and dictation tasks were selected from the test battery. We assume the above-mentioned parameters defining the graphomotor level of an individual as determining for the degree of writing automation. We assume that the level of individuals in the degree of automation will differ because the period of the 3rd and 4th class is in the literature (McCutchen, 1988; Gathercole et al., 2004; Medwell et al., 2009, Tucha et al., 2008; Vágnerová, 2012) described as a key stage for the completion of the development of writing and its automation.
