Storytime activities in primary schools and kindergartens

Abstract:

In my work I deal with the problematics of teaching English through stories and related activities. On the basis of the research which I carried out in methodology workshops for inexperienced and unskilled teachers I tried to define the attitudes of the teachers towards the method. I focused on their negative viewpoint as I want to help the teachers find the way how to incorporate this method in the second language curicullum. I offer them a range of activities that will show them the way how to start, what to do next etc. I have created and tested a lot of lesson plans based on storytelling and related activities. I want the teachers to realise how profitable the method can be in their work with children. The observations from my work will be elaborated in workshops as well as in a book for those unpractised teachers.
