Abstract:

František kardinál Dietrichstein (1575-1636), jedna z velkých středoevropských osobností prvních desetiletí 17. století, je osobností mnohovrstevnou, která zasahuje jako kardinál a olomoucký biskup nejen do středoevropského vývoje doby vrcholící konfesionalizace v oblasti náboženské a církevní, ale také v oblasti politické, vojenské a kulturní, jako jeden z činitelů kulturního transferu a rozvoje „prvních moderních květů“ protobarokní kultury na Moravě. Do dnešních dob se však Dietrichsteinovi dosud nedostalo kritické a vědecké biografie, což je dáno především stavu zachování početného archivního materiálu spojeného s jeho osobou, rozptýleného po celé Evropě a navíc zachovaného diskontinuálně. Disertační práce je zaměřena na poznání nejvyšší roviny Dietrichsteinovy církevní existence, jíž je jeho kardinálská hodnost a z ní vyplývající vztahy s římskou kurií, a především jejich prostřednící, agenti v celé Itálii, mezi nimiž vyniká především postava římského agenta Jacoma Olivieriho a jeho 350 dopisů, které mohou poskytnout v jistém slova smyslu klíč k celému souboru Dietrichsteinovy korespondence s italským prostředím. Síť vztahů s prostředím římské kurie představuje jednu z určujících složek Dietrichsteinova působení a života, a proto může být dále rozvíjena jako východisko pro další bádání. Hlavním částem práce je předeslána obsáhlejší první část věnovaná předpokladům Dietrichsteinovy kariéry a jejím vlastním počátkům, tedy popisu studia a získávání prvních církevních úřadů budoucího kardinála. Tato kapitola končí Dietrichsteinovou kardinálskou kreací a nástupem do funkce olomouckého knížete-biskupa, tedy vlastně svatým rokem 1600. Těžištěm práce jsou tři hlavní oddíly, jejichž artikulace vychází ze samotného tématu práce: věnují se Dietrichsteinovým vztahům ke kurii a papežskému dvoru nejprve z hlediska proměn a modalit institucionálních vztahů (část 2), následně jsou popisována média zajišťující komunikaci mezi Dietrichsteinem a kurií, k nimž náleží především agenti, dále využívající služeb novinářů a např. mediaci poštovní (část 3), a konečně se věnuje i obsahům této komunikace, především konkrétním záležitostem, které pro kardinála agenti vyřizují v oblasti řízení olomoucké diecéze (část 4). Z pramenů jsou využity především dopisy samotných agentů, ale i korespondence s papeži, jejich nepoty a dalšími členy kardinálského sboru, jakož i korespondence s císařskými vyslanci a materiál Kongregace de propaganda fide, studované v Tajném vatikánském archivu, Apoštolské vatikánské knihovně, různých dalších vatikánských a italských archivech, ale i v rodinném archivu Dietrichsteinů a arcibiskupském archivu v Olomouci.

Abstract:

Cardinal Francis Dietrichstein (1575-1636), one of the key figures in Central Europe in the first decades of the 17th century, was a versatile person. As Cardinal and the Bishop of Olomouc he influenced the development of the peak period of confessionalization in Central Europe not only in the religious and ecclesiastical field but also in the political, military, and cultural field. He was one of the initiators of the cultural transfer and of the bloom of the first blossoms of the modern protobaroque culture in Moravia. Until now Dietrichstein has not been given any critical or scientific biography. This is mainly caused by the state of the preservation of the archival materials connected with this person, which are spread all over Europe and which are of a very sparse character, as well. This doctoral thesis deals with the highest level of Dietrichstein’s religious existence: his cardinalship and his rapports with the Roman Curia and its intermediaries (agents) throughout Italy. One of the most important people among the agents was Jacomo Olivieri, who wrote about 350 letters to Dietrichstein. These letters can serve as a key to the whole collection of Dietrichstein’s correspondence with the Italian environment. The relations with the Roman Curia can be regarded as crucial for Dietrichstein’s professional life and can be further researched. The first part, preceding the main body of the thesis, focuses on the very beginnings of Dietrichstein’s career, i.e. his studies and the taking over of first posts in ecclesiastical offices. This chapter ends with Dietrichstein’s creation of Cardinal and his taking of office of Prince-Bishop of Olomouc in the holy year 1600. The core of the thesis consists of three parts; Part 2 deals with Dietrichstein’s rapports with the Roman Curia and the Papal Household in terms of changes and modalities of institutional relations. Part 3 introduces the ways of communication between Dietrichstein and the Curia. It focuses mainly on the contacts with its intermediaries: the agesnts, the journalists and the correspondence, as well. Part 4, finally, pursues the particular matters the intermediaries had to handle in the Olomouc diocese. Among the sources, the thesis takes use of the letters of the intermediaries, of the correspondence with the popes, their nepots and other members of the College of Cardinals. Moreover, it exploits the letters with the emperors’ delegates and the documents of the Congregation de Propaganda Fide, which have been studied in the Vatican Secret Archives, the Vatican Apostolic Library, and other Vatican and Italian archives, and also in Dietrichstein’s family archive and Olomouc Archbishop’s Archive.
