The Old Age and the Quality of Life in Contemporary Society

Abstract:

Tématem práce je stáří a kvalita života v současné společnosti. Téma seniorů je v dnešní době aktuálně diskutováno. V této oblasti má své uplatnění i sociální pedagogika. Teoretická část práce je zaměřena na stáří a proces stárnutí. Jsou popsány změny v oblasti biologické, psychické a sociální, které proces stárnutí provází a pohled na stáří v historii a současnosti. Práce zahrnuje také oblast rodiny a mezigeneračního soužití. Pozornost je věnována rovněž tématu kvality života se zaměřením na specifickou skupinu seniorů a popisuje současné možnosti zdravotních a sociálních služeb a péče a podpory ve vztahu ke starým lidem. Praktická část obsahuje poznatky získané za použití kvalitativní výzkumné strategie. Přináší informace ze získaných poznatků a doporučení pro sociálně pedagogické působení v této oblasti.

Abstract:

The topic of my work is the old age and the quality of life in contemporary society. The topic of seniors has been discussed currently a lot. In this field social pedagogy has its application as well. The theoretical part of this work is focused on the old age and the process of growing old. The changes in the biological, psychological and social field which accompany the process of growing old and point of view of old age in history and in the present are described. Work includes the sphere of family and coexistence among generations as well. Attention is also paid to the topic of quality of life with focus on a specific group of seniors and it is describing contemporary possibilities of health and social service, care and support in relationship to old people. The practical part includes knowledge gained using qualitative research strategy. It brings information from gained knowledge and recommendation for social and pedagogical work in this field.
