Development of Training in Psychotherapy Integration trainees From the Common Factors Perspective

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá vývojem terapeutických dovedností frekventantů integrativního terapeutického výcviku zkoumaného z pohledu společných účinných faktorů. Cílem je popsat, jakým způsobem se u frekventantů v průběhu pěti let výcviku proměňují četnosti využívání společných faktorů. Analyzovaným materiálem jsou formulace případů, které tvořilo 22 frekventantů Výcviku integrace v psychoterapii na konci každého z pěti ročníků. Nejdříve bylo nutné vytvořit seznam společných faktorů s podrobnými definicemi, na jehož základě bylo využívání společných faktorů ve formulacích kódováno. Zjištěné četnosti využívání faktorů za jednotlivce i celé ročníky byly podrobeny statistické analýze. U frekventantů bez předchozí terapeutické praxe byl zjištěn nárůst ve využívání společných faktorů podle kvadratického trendu. Nárůst nebyl patrný u frekventantů s předchozí praxí. Rozdílnost v četnostech využívání skupiny interpersonálních faktorů a obecných principů změny byla zjištěna pouze na počátku terapeutického výcviku, od druhého ročníku se skupiny faktorů vyvíjely stejně. Výsledky rovněž nepodpořily hypotézu, že budou interpersonální faktory využívány celkově častěji než obecné faktory. Oproti původnímu předpokladu, že se bude frekvence využívání společného faktoru persuaze během pěti let snižovat, byl u tohoto faktoru zjištěn lineární nárůst. Mezi tři ve skupině frekventantů nejčastěji využívané faktory patří vhled, aktivace zdrojů a vřelost. Mezi tři nejméně využívané patří korektivní emoční zkušenost, sebepřijetí a naděje.

Abstract:

The present thesis explores the development of therapeutic skills of trainees they gain in integrative psychotherapy training, investigated from the common factor perspective. The aim is to describe changes in frequencies of common factors usage during the five-year training. 22 trainees from the Training in Integrative Psychotherapy course were creating case formulations at the end of each year of their training. Those case formulations were coded for the usage of common factors. It was essential to first create a list of common factors with detailed definitions which served as coding manual. The frequencies found were then statistically analysed. The research findings show that trainees with no previous therapeutic experience follow the increasing quadratic trend for frequency of the common factors usage, while those with previous therapeutic experience do not. Furthermore, the results show that a difference in frequencies of using interpersonal common factors and general common factors only occur in the first year. From the second year onwards, the development of both groups’ common factors was almost identical. The results found did not support the hypothesis that interpersonal factors would be used more often than general common factors. Despite the original assumption that frequency of the common factor persuasion will be decreasing, it was proved that the frequency of persuasion increases linearly during the five years. The thesis also discovered that the three most-often used common factors are insight, resource activation and warmth. The least used common factors are corrective emotional experience, self-acceptance and hope.
