Abstract:

Bakalářská práce Protest jako umění. Angažované umění v letech 1968–1989 v USA se zaměřuje na aktivity newyorské skupiny Art Worker’s Coalition, s níž spolupracovaly mnohé další umělecké skupiny, kolektivy a hnutí. Tato skupina, jejímiž členy byla řada významných amerických umělců, kritiků a teoretiků, se stala katalyzátorem mnoha protestních akcí. Práce sleduje i umělecky angažovanou činnost členů AWC Lucy Lippard a Hanse Haackeho po rozpadu koalice. Umělecký aktivismus AWC a dalších je popisován na pozadí politického a společenského vývoje v USA po 2. světové válce.

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis Protest as Art. Engaged Art from 1968–1989 in the U.S. focuses on the activities of group Art Worker's Coalition which collaborated with many other arts groups, collectives and movements. This group consisting of a number of prominent American artists, critics and theorists, became a catalyst for a number of protest actions. The thesis follows politically engaged art practice of members of AWC Lucy Lippard and Hans Haacke after the breakeup of the coalition. Artistic activism AWC and others are described in the background of political and social developments in the United States after World War 2.
