Use of Authentic Electronic Materials in English Classes

Abstract:

This Bachelor Thesis deals with authentic materials in English language teaching and how they can contribute to a learners´ motivation in lessons and help learners to be involved in meaningful communication. It is shown that communicative skills can be used in integration even if the aim of the lesson is to practise only one communicative skill, in this Bachelor´s Thesis it is the development of speaking. An explanation of how to employ communicative skills to give learners opportunities to learn in the integrated language lesson will be provided. Included is also a description of communicative tasks based on authentic materials designed for these integrated language lessons with overall aims to achieve the development of learners´ fluency and confidence in speaking.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá možnostmi využití autentických materiálů ve výuce anglického jazyka a způsoby, jak tyto materiály využít k motivaci žáků k učení. Ukazuje, že řečové dovednosti mohou být použity v integraci, i když hlavním cílem hodin je pouze jedna řečová dovednost, v této práci jde o rozvoj mluvení. Vysvětluje, jak tyto řečové dovednosti využít v integrovaných jazykových hodinách tak, aby žáci dostali příležitosti k učení. Popisuje komunikační úkoly, které jsou založeny na autentických materiálech navržených pro tyto integrované jazykové hodiny, jejichž hlavním cílem je dosáhnout zlepšení plynulosti a jistoty při mluvení.
