Abstract:

Studie zdůrazňuje transformační roli remitencí jako silného katalyzátoru socioekonomického rozvoje v Kerale. Kromě zmírňování chudoby a zvyšování ekonomické odolnosti přispívají remitence k sociální soudržnosti a blahobytu komunity a přispívají k celkové prosperitě komunit, které vysílají migranty. Tato studie proto podněcuje potřebu udržitelných a inkluzivních rozvojových strategií, které by řešily různé potřeby a výzvy migrantských komunit v Kérale i mimo ni. Tato práce zkoumá, jak remitence ovlivňují blahobyt v indické Kérale. Remitence jsou spojeny s vyšší kvalitou života, ale jejich dopad nemusí být lineární - může existovat bod klesající návratnosti. Roli v tom, jak jsou remitence využívány, hraje pohlaví, vzdělání a věk. Domácnosti přijímající remitence jsou obvykle mladší a mají vyšší příjem. Celkově lze říci, že remitence významně zlepšují finanční zabezpečení, ale další výzkum může zkoumat, jak maximalizovat jejich pozitivní dopad na různé aspekty blahobytu v Kérale.

Abstract:

The study underscores the transformative role of remittances as a powerful catalyst for socio-economic development in Kerala. Beyond alleviating poverty and enhancing economic resilience, remittances foster social cohesion and community well-being, contributing to the overall prosperity of migrant-sending communities. This study hence prompting the need for sustainable and inclusive development strategies that address the diverse needs and challenges of migrant communities in Kerala and beyond. This thesis examines how remittances affect well-being in Kerala, India. Remittances are linked to a higher quality of life, but the impact might not be linear – there could be a point of diminishing returns. Gender, education, and age play a role in how remittances are used. Remittance-receiving households are typically younger and have a higher income. Overall, remittances significantly improve financial security, but further research can explore how to maximize their positive impact on various aspects of well-being in Kerala.
