Abstract:

Diplomová práce s názvem Záměrná archaizace a modernizace v českých překladech z angličtiny se zabývá faktorem času a jeho vlivem na překladovou literaturu, respektive na překladatele a jejich vztah k tomuto faktoru. Skládá se z teoretické a praktické části. V teoretické části jsou na úvod vymezeny základní pojmy: archaizace, historizace, modernizace, starší text a časový rozdíl. Klíčová část kapitoly sleduje vývoj faktoru času v translatologii na konkrétních případech odborných statí. Ve druhé polovině práce je zpracován praktický výzkum. Cílem bylo odhalit a popsat jakých metod překladatelé při překladu starších literárních textů užívají. Úryvky z 54 knih byly klasifikovány a roztříděny do kategorií podle toho, zda překladatelé modernizují, archaizují a pomocí jakých prvků takto činí. Výsledky naznačují určité tendence, přestože pro jasnější odpovědi a pro širší platnost zjištěných tvrzení by bylo vhodné výzkum rozšířit.

Abstract:

Diploma thesis Intentional Archaizing and Modernizing in Czech Translations from English is focused on the factor of time and its impact on translated literature, or more precisely on translator and his or her relation to this factor. It consists of theoretical and practical part. In the beginning of the theoretical part, the key terms are defined: archaizing, historicizing, modernizing, an older text and time gap. The central part of this chapter traces the history of the temporal factor in translation studies using the examples of particular theoretical papers. In the second part of the thesis a practical research is described. The aim was to discover which methods translators use when translating older literary texts. Excerpts from 54 books were classified on the basis of whether the translator is modernizing or archaizing and how. The results indicate certain regularities, even though for more relevant results and general validity of the conclusions, the research should be expanded.
