Oligomers based on glycoluril

Abstract:

Molekula glykolurilu se svými vazebnými vlastnostmi a vhodným tvarem své struktury se ukazuje jako ideální stavební jednotka větších supramolekulárních objektů. Ze šesti glykolurilových jednotek sestává makrocyklická molekula cucurbiturilu. Dalšími studovanými oligomery na bázi glykolurilu jsou jeho dimerní struktury pojené methylenovými můstky nebo struktury molekulárních klips a košů. Procesem molekulárního samosestavování vznikají dimerní pouzdra tzv. tenisových míčků. V rámci experimentální části této práce byla provedena syntéza a izolace dimerů o-xylylenglykolurilu a propylenglykolurilu, jejichž glykolurilové jednotky nesou v ekvatoriálních 3a a 6a pozicích vodíkové atomy. Ve snaze připravit dimerní strukturu se substituenty na methylenových můstcích byly studovány reakce chráněných glykolurilů s aldehydy. Jako úspěšná se ukázala reakce propylenglykolurilu s o-ftaldialdehydem. Naposled je komentována syntéza dimeru glykolurilu se střední durenovou jednotkou.

Abstract:

Glycoluril molecule with its binding features and suitable shape of its structure turns out to be ideal building block of larger supramolecular objects. From six glycoluril moieties consists the macrocyclic molecule of cucurbituril. Other studied oligomers based on glycoluril are its dimer structures linked by methylene bridges or structures of molecular clips and baskets. The dimer capsules of tennis balls are formed by process of molecular self-assembly. The synthesis and isolation of o-xylylenglycoluril and propylenglycoluril dimers were carried out within the experimental part of this thesis. The reactions of protected glycolurils were studied with aldehydes in an effort to prepare dimer structure with substituents on the methylene bridges. The reaction of propylenglycoluril with o-ftaldialdehyde proved successful. The last commented synthesis is the reaction of the glycoluril dimer with central durene moiety.
