Patients' satisfaction with nursing care

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem projektu bylo zjistit spokojenost pacientů s poskytovanou ošetřovatelskou péčí na vybraných odděleních dvou nemocnic Moravskoslezského kraje, zjistit vztahy mezi demografickými a klinickými charakteristikami pacientů a jejich spokojeností a porovnat spokojenost pacientů podle zdravotnického zařízení a oddělení, kde byli hospitalizováni. Metodika: Deskriptivní korelační studie. Zkoumaný soubor tvořilo 507 pacientů hospitalizovaných v období od 1. 2. 2011 do 10. 3. 2011 na 13 lůžkových odděleních v nemocnicích Karviná-Ráj a Orlová, které jsou součástí jednoho zdravotnického zařízení. Ke sběru dat byl použit standardizovaný dotazník Patient Satisfaction Scale (PSS). Výsledky: Pacienti hodnotili poskytovanou ošetřovatelskou péči jedenácti položkami na čtyřbodové Likertově škále ve třech oblastech: technické/racionální aspekty, podávání informací a oblast podpory a interakce. V obou nemocnicích byli pacienti nejvíce spokojeni s technickými aspekty ošetřovatelské péče a nejméně s poskytováním informací. Demografické charakteristiky pacientů na jejich spokojenost zásadní vliv neměly. Pouze v jedné nemocnici (Karviná) byli muži ve všech faktorech spokojenější než ženy a naopak nejmenší spokojenost udávali pacienti, kteří popisovali svůj zdravotní stav jako uspokojivý. V nemocnici Orlová udávali vyšší spokojenost s podporou a interakcí pacienti hospitalizovaní déle než týden. Závěr: Výsledky studie neprokázaly statisticky významné rozdíly v hodnocení spokojenosti pacientů mezi nemocnicemi ani mezi sledovanými odděleními.

Abstract:

Aim: The aim of the project was to assess patients? satisfaction with nursing care provided in selected departments of two hospitals the region, to determine relationships between demographic and clinical characteristics of patients and their satisfaction, and to compare patients? satisfaction, according to the hospital and department, where they were hospitalized. Methods: A descriptive correlation study. The research kohort consisted of 507 patients hospitalized from 1. 2. 2011 to 10. 3. 2011 at 13 departments in hospitals Karviná-Ráj and Orlová, both are parts of the one medical organization. Data were collected using the standardized questionnaire, the Patient Satisfaction Scale (PSS). Results: Patients rated the nursing care by ileven items at four-point Likert scale in three areas: technical/rational aspects, given information and the support and interaction. In both hospitals, patients were most satisfied with the technical aspects of nursing care and the least with the providing of information. Demographic characteristics of patients on their satisfaction had a minor impact. Only in one hospital (Karviná) were men more satified than women in all factors and the smallest satisfaction was reported, by patients who described their health as satisfactory. In the hospital Orlová was reported higher satisfaction with the support and interaction by patients hospitalized for more than a week. Conclusion: The results of the study did not demonstrate statistically significant differences in patient satisfaction between hospitals or among departments surveyed.
