Předkládaná práce se zabývá vybranou tvorbou anglicko-polského spisovatele Josepha Conrada a jeho anglicko-indického současníka Rudyarda Kiplinga. Cílem práce je s ohledem na vybraná díla těchto spisovatelů zanalyzovat vzájemné souvislosti mezi britským kolonialismem a imperialismem na konci 19. století a tzv. krizí modernity a s ní související sexuálně-materiální frustrací. Abstract:
This thesis is concerned with a number of selected texts by the Anglo-Polish modernist Joseph Conrad and his Anglo-Indian contemporary Rudyard Kipling. The thesis seeks, in terms of the texts in question, to analyze explicit and implicit interconnections between (primarily)the 19th century British imperialism and colonialism and what could be called "crisis of modernity".
