Asperger syndrome of children and its impact on their quality of life

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce na téma ?Aspergerův syndrom u dětí a jeho dopad na kvalitu života? vznikla za účelem poznání skutečného stavu dětí s diagnózou Aspergerova syndromu. Dostupné zdroje totiž upozorňují na neinformovanost a neznalost laické veřejnosti o všech faktorech, které se u Aspergerova syndromu vyskytují. Z tohoto důvodu je v České republice diagnóza Aspergerova syndromu stanovována velmi pozdě. Hlavním cílem této práce je popsat vybrané aspekty Aspergerova syndromu. Dále zjistit, jaký je stav děti s Aspergerovým syndromem, ve kterých oblastech mají tyto děti největší potíže, jak jsou vnímány jejich okolím a jak kvalitní život vedou ve svém sociálním prostředí. Informace budu získávat z odborné literatury, internetových zdrojů a zákonů, které doplním o případovou kazuistiku chlapce. Tuto práci jsem vytvořila s cílem pomoci dospělým, rodičům a také laické veřejnosti ve vztahu k jedinci s Aspergerovým syndromem. Bakalářská práce je rozdělena do dvou části, teoretické a aplikační. Teoretická část popisuje hlavní charakteristiky Aspergerova syndromu, jeho problémové oblasti a sociální prostředí ve kterém děti s Aspergerovým syndromem vyrůstají. Dále se zaměřuje na pojem ?kvalita života? a na sociální práci s těmito dětmi. Cílem aplikační části je na základě spisové dokumentace představit případovou kazuistiku dítěte s Aspergerovým syndromem v konceptu kvality jeho života.

Abstract:

The topic of my bachelor thesis is called ?Asperger?s syndrome in childhood and its impact on quality of life?. The thesis was written in order to identify actual conditions of children diagnosed with the Asperger and to utilize this knowledge so that the general public has a better understanding of children with the Asperger syndrome. My main sources for this work are pieces of scientific literature, the Internet, extracts from the government policies and laws as well as a specific documentation of a boy diagnosed with the Asperger. All of the available sources indicate that people in the Czech Republic lack knowledge about the Asperger syndrome. Therefore the diagnosis of Asperger is usually made a long time after the first symptoms appear. The main purpose of my work is to describe a few selected symptoms of the Asperger?s syndrome and determine conditions of children with Asperger. The thesis also elaborates on some problematic areas such as how well are these children perceived by the people in their surroundings or how well they interact within their social environment. The bachelor thesis is divided into a theoretical part, and a practical part. The theoretical part depicts the main characteristics of the Asperger?s syndrome, its problematic areas and lastly the social environment in which the Asperger?s patients grow up. Also, the theoretical part deals with the term ?quality of life? and targets the social work with the Asperger?s children. The goals of the practical part are to provide a specific example of a child diagnosed with the Asperger?s syndrome, and to compare my theoretical findings with his life experience.
