The health literacy of pregnant women

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na problematiku zdravotní gramotnosti u těhotných žen. Teoretická část práce popisuje historii, definice a význam zdravotní gramotnosti. Dále je zaměřena na oblasti zdravotní gramotnosti, modely, úrovně zdravotní gramotnosti a její související faktory. Tato část práce se věnuje i roli sestry neboli porodní asistentky při podpoře zdravotní gramotnosti, péči v prenatálním období a také hodnocení zdravotní gramotnosti a její úroveň v České republice. Hlavním cílem práce je zjistit úroveň zdravotní gramotnosti u těhotných žen pomocí dotazníku "The Newest Vital SignTM" (NVS) (Powers et al., 2010, Weiss et al., 2005). Výzkumné šetření bylo provedeno na gynekologicko-porodnickém oddělení v nemocnici Jihočeského kraje, zúčastnilo se ho 50 respondentek, které se nacházely od 37. týdne těhotenství do 42. týdne těhotenství. Z výzkumného šetření bylo zjištěno, že 58 % těhotných žen má adekvátní zdravotní gramotnost.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis focuses on health literacy in pregnant women. The theoretical part describes the history, definition and importance of health literacy. It also concentrates on the areas of health literacy, models, levels of health literacy and its related factors. This part also deals with prenatal care and describes the role of a nurse (or midwife) in supporting health literacy. Next, it evaluates the level of health literacy in the Czech Republic. The main aim of this thesis is to determine the level of health literacy in pregnant women using the questionnaire "The Newest Vital Sign TM" (NVS) (Powers et al., 2010, Weiss et al., 2005). The research was conducted at the gynaecology and obstetrics department in a South Bohemian hospital. 50 respondents at 37 to 42 weeks of pregnancy participated in the research. The research established that that 58 % of pregnant women have adequate health literacy.
