The symbolic meaning of sacred animals for indigenous inhabitants in North America

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce bude zaměřena na uchopení symbolického významu posvátných zvířat u původních obyvatel Severní Ameriky, kteří byli ve svém přirozeném bytí plně součástí Matky přírody společně s členy zvířecí říše. V textu se nejprve zaměřím na objasnění pojmu samotné symboliky a poté o bjasním z jakého důvodu, jakým způsobem a za jakým účelem začali obyvatelé různých kmenových společenství vnímat a uctívat tato zvířata, se kterými byli spojeni, a která se tímto stala posvátnými jako určitá náboženská forma božské moci, ochrany, síly a inspirace v každodenním jednání. Symbolika zvířecí říše byla neodmyslitelně spjata a propojena i s indiánskou spiritualitou a duchovností, přičemž je prostoupena celou touto domorodou kulturou, např. při posvátných obřadech, rituálech, léčbě, hledáním vizí, atp. Smyslem této práce bude pohled na tento významný aspekt indiánského bytí. .

Abstract:

This bachelor ?s thesis is focused on the appreciation of the symbolic importance of the sacred animals among the native people in North America who were in their natural being fully part of Mother Nature along with members of the animal kingdom. First of all the text is focused on the clarification of the concept of symbolism itself and then it clarifies the reason, the way and for what purpose people of different tribal communities started to perceive and worship these animals which they were connected with and witch thereby bacame sacred like a certain religious form o divine power, protection, strenght and inspiration in the everyday conduct. The symbolism of the animal kingdom was inherently linked and connected even with Indian spirituality and it is imbued with this whole tribal culture, for example during sacred ceremonies, rituals, treatment, visions questing and the like. The purpose of this thesis is the view of this important aspect of an Indian existence.
