Problémy venkovské a městské migrace: případová studie městského okresu Ghana z města Ga.

Abstract:

Tato studie hodnotí důsledky migrace venkovských a městských měst v městské části Ghana v oblasti Ga West. Konkrétně studie zkoumá příčiny, přínosy a výzvy migrace v okrese. Při realizaci cílů studie bylo v okrese náhodně vybráno 55 migrantů. Respondenti byli dotazováni pomocí uzavřených a otevřených dotazníků.Studie ukázala,že přelidnění a nelegální obchodování v městské čtvrti Ga West v Ghaně byly silně spojeny s nárůstem populace migrantů. Pracovní příležitosti, přístup k lepší zdravotní péči a lepší sociální pohoda jsou některé z hlavních obav těchto migrantů. Vzhledem k nízké úrovni vzdělání a nedostatku dovedností, tito migranti skončí většinou v neformálním sektoru. prodávání pak je jedinou dostupnou alternativou k tomu, aby se konečně setkali. Studie rovněž poukázala na zlepšení životní úrovně těchto migrantů po přemístění do studijních oblastí. Migranti v tomto regionu však čelí určitým výzvám; nemají vhodné ubytování, protože jsou drahé. V důsledku toho obvykle zasahují do veřejných prostor. To vede k občasným střetům s místními zákonnými úředníky. Celkově mají tito přistěhovalci velký ekonomický význam, protože vysílají peníze domů a podporují své závislé osoby.Je třeba regulovat jejich činnost ve prospěch společnosti. Je také třeba, aby je zvážili při vytváření politik, a aby jim byly ve venkovských oblastech zpřístupněny pracovní místa, aby nemusely přece migrovat.Klíčová slova: migrace, chudoba, rozvoj venkova, nezaměstnanost

Abstract:

Rural-urban migration has grave consequences on both urban and remote areas, especially in developing countries, such as Ghana. This study assesses the implications of rural-urban migration in Ga West Municipal District of Ghana. Specifically, the study investigates the causes, benefits and challenges of migration in the district. In realising the objectives of the study, 55 migrants were randomly selected in the district. The respondents were interviewed using closed and opened ended questionnaires. The study revealed that congestion and hawking in the Ga West Municipal District in Ghana was heavily linked to an increase in the migrant population. Job opportunities, access to better healthcare and improved social amenities are some of the main concerns of these migrants. Due to the low level of education and lack of skills, these migrants end up mostly in the informal sector. Hawking then is the only alternative available to them to make ends meet. The study also pointed out an improvement in the living standards of these migrants upon relocating to the study areas. Migrants in this region, however, face some challenges; they lack suitable accommodation because it is expensive. As a result, they usually encroach public spaces. This leads to occasional clashes with local law enforcers. In all, these migrants are of great economic importance since they send remittances home as well as supporting their dependants. There is a need to regularise their operations for the benefit of society. There is also the need to consider them in policy making as well as make jobs available for them in the rural areas so they may not need to migrate after all.
